Glass and Mirror Cleaner

 

Equal Parts Vinegar and Water

 

Store in spray bottle.

Shake well before each use.

 

If you do not appreciate the smell of vinegar, use this recipe instead:

 

1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice to 1 Quart Water

Because of the lemon juice, this is a single use recipe.

 

 

Mold and Mildew Fighter

 

2 Cups Hot Water

¼ Cup Borax

10 Drops Thyme Essential Oil

 

Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well.  Spray on surfaces and wipe clean.

 

 

Toilet Cleaner

 

1/2 Cup Baking Soda

¼ Cup Vinegar

10 Drops Of Your Favorite Essential Oil

 

Combine all ingredients in the toilet bowl, swipe with brush, and done!

 

 

Whitening Scouring Powder

 

1 Cup Baking Soda

2 Teaspoons Cream of Tartar

1/8 Cup Borax

¼ Cup Grated Citrus Peel

 

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Store in an airtight container.  To use, sprinkle on surfaces and scrub using a damp cloth or sponge.  Rinse and wipe dry.

 

 

Rug And Carpet Deodorizer

 

1 Cup Borax

1 Cup Baking Soda

15 Drops Of Essential Oil Of Choice

 

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Store in an airtight container.  To use sprinkle on carpets and use a broom to work the powder in.  Leave on carpets for a minimum of 30 minutes. (The longer you can wait to vacuum, the more beneficial it will be).  Vacuum as usual.

 

 

Fleas Be Gone Carpet Treatment

 

2½ Cups Baking Soda

10 Drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil

10 Drops Citronella Essential Oil

8 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil

6 Drops Lemon Essential Oil

 

Vacuum carpet well.  Combine all ingredients in a plastic container and sprinkle on carpet.  Wait at least an hour before vacuuming again. 

 

*To help prevent fleas from returning, it is recommended to remove the vacuum cleaner bag. Seal the opening and discard.

 

 

Citrus Tile And Linoleum Floor Cleaner

 

1 Gallon Hot Water

2 Tablespoons Liquid Castile Soap

15 Drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil

8 Drops Lemon Essential Oil or ¼ Cup Lemon Juice

 

Combine all ingredients in a large bucket.  Dip a mop into the bucket and squeeze out excess liquid.  Clean the floor by working in sections using short strokes and dipping the mop as needed. Rinsing is not necessary.

 

 

Floor Wipes 

 

1 Cup Water

1 Cup White Vinegar

20 Drops Essential Oil (Can Be A Combination Of Oils Or 20 Drops Of Your Favorite)

 

Cut an old shirt or rag into squares to the size of your electrostatic mop (Swiffer) and set aside.  Mix all ingredients in a bowl.  Stack your precut wipes on top of eachother and place them in the bowl with the cleaning solution.  Allow the wipes to absorb the liquid for a few moments.  Immediately transfer the wipes to your storage container of choice together with about ¼ cup of the liquid to keep them moist, and seal.  These wipes may be used on tile, linoleum, and sealed hard wood floors.  (This can also be used for an all purpose cleaner – store in a spray bottle.)

 

 

Bleach Alternative For The Laundry  

 

12 Cups Water

¼ Cup Lemon Juice

1 Cup Hydrogen Peroxide

 

Combine ingredients and store in an airtight container.  Use 2 cups per wash load.  You can also store in a spray bottle to use as a multi-purpose cleaner.
