Your heart beats an astounding 100,000 times each day and, in doing so, sends 2,000 gallons of blood surging to your body to nourish tissues and organs! It is vital that you keep this important organ healthy and functioning. Of course, how we manage stresses and our day-to-day lifestyle choices play a critical role in heart health. However, if you are not “feeding” your heart right (with a nutritious diet and supplements), it’s a recipe for disaster! That’s why we refer to a combination of lifestyle and diet. Our dietary choices are a significant player in cardiovascular health, and those choices can either help or hinder your odds of developing heart disease. Proper nutrition supports the heart’s correct rate, rhythm, and tone.
A “cheat-sheet” to keep your heart in great shape looks something like this and is inevitably easier to say than to do (on your own, anyway, and that’s where we come in):
- Reach for ticker-friendly foods, such as leafy greens, berries, good fats (avocadoes, olive oil, nuts), beans, garlic, and seeds.
- Limit too much of a good thing; drink alcohol in moderation
- Get moving!
- Practice stress reduction techniques or anything that helps you to relax.

The “magic” of the Heart Sound Recorder
This techie-sounding device was developed a long time ago, in 1937, by Dr. Royal Lee. So, its history as an analytical and diagnostic tool is well-established. As its name suggests, the recorder allows for the heart’s sounds to be graphed accurately and detailed.
This computer-based, low-risk wellness instrument displays, measures, and graphically illustrates heart sounds. Think of the HSR like a camera for sound; it takes a “picture” of the sounds produced by the heart and captured by the recorder. That allows our clinicians to see how the heart functions in a graph, based on those distinctive lubs and dubs. As these sounds are health indicators produced due to different heart functions and blood flow, we can use the HSR to detect abnormalities quickly and accurately.
How your body responds to chemical, nutritional, and emotional stressors that are introduced can be observed – through the heart’s rate, rhythmic, and tonal patterns! In turn, this device reflects both efficiencies and deficiencies in heart function. We are pleased to have the science and metrics to back up improvements in health and wellness, which we then show to our clients. We can even use different graphs to compare how various actions are affecting heart health, and we can adjust those wellness strategies promptly, as needed.
